Effective assessment of trainees

In educational terms, assessment should be a reliable, objective measure of our knowledge and abilities. Learning can be divided into different areas which, in educational terms, are called `domains'. These comprise knowledge, attitude to learning and skills. Each domain requires a different type of assessment. This article looks at how these areas of learning can be assessed in terms of medical education.
