In April 2004, an international group of health professionals travelled to Shaibah airbase in Southern Iraq to deliver courses on emergency obstetrics and trauma, based on the principles of the MOET (Managing Obstetric Emergencies and Trauma) course, to Iraqi doctors and midwives. This trip was the culmination of a year's efforts by various members of the team and other interested parties. Following the success of the initial visit, a second trip was arranged to deliver a Generic Instructor Course and a third MOET course.
