We thank Mr Myerson for his interest in our paper.1 A literature search performed before writing up our review article did not pick up his paper.2 We have investigated this and found that his paper is not available on Medline but on EMBASE. We find it rather unusual that a paper does not appear on Medline.
Mr Myerson's suggestion to train some, rather than all, trainees in the laparoscopic management of ectopic pregnancy would be contrary to the new curriculum of trainees which will start in August 2007.3 We also feel that Mr Myerson's suggestion, if implemented, could be detrimental to our specialty until obstetrics and gynaecology are dichotomised into two specialties.
